Due to the high patient throughput, it happens from time to time that liquids get into the gantry. This can not only affect the longevity of the machine but is also a reason for the spread of MRSA and other germs.
To meet these challenges, we have developed the CT Gantry Cover. The CT Gantry Cover is a cover for the gantry made out of a durable PU foil that protects the gantry from liquids.
Reduced damages and wear thanks to high quality workmanship with tear-resistant PU material and durable surface
Routine work on the CT through efficient, clear and straight forward handling and installation.
Can be cleaned easily without leaving residue, provides reliable protection, thereby increasing safety and the wellbeing of the patient.
We operate 10 diagnostic CT scanners, with 6 scanners running 24/7. These 24/7 scanners are used for a wide range of exams including trauma, emergent imaging, and interventions.
Prior to using gantry covers, we experienced occasional fluid infiltration into the gantry, particularly contrast agent leaks that crept past the mylar window. When this occurred, a mylar window replacement alone required about 2 hours of downtime. In more severe cases, where fluids reached the detectors, cleaning and recalibration could take up to 8 hours. These incidents not only disrupted workflow but also posed a risk to the longevity of the equipment. The most common fluids encountered were IV contrast and bodily fluids —particularly in trauma and critical care scenarios.
We began using Pearltec Gantry Covers roughly three months ago on our high-use CT units. Since implementation, we’ve had zero downtime related to liquid contamination—a 100% success rate. The covers have provided a consistent barrier, protecting the gantry from all types of fluid exposure.
If contrast or any other fluid gets onto the Gantry Cover, we simply wipe it off. This process is significantly easier than before and eliminates the need for time-consuming internal cleaning or preventive maintenance. The use of reusable gantry covers has also allowed us to discontinue disposable plastic covers, aligning with our sustainability goals and reducing waste management.
